Colourful Office Supplies

Consider your advertising dollar.  Depending on what media you advertise in, the amount you spend will have a very different impact.
For example:

  • Television: advertisements are sold in slots of 30 seconds
  • Newspaper or Yellow Pages: advertisement are sold on square centimeters

On the Internet, however, there are no limits to the number of pages on your site, or on what can be published on them.   Will it be living colour or just a few corporate shades?  Will you include video downloads, podcasts and virtual tours?  Do you want your clients to blog?

This is perhaps both the greatest stumbling block and greatest opportunity for a business starting a website. The sheer number of options and choices can be overwhelming.

So what needs to go on your site?

Contact is good!

If your website does nothing else, make sure...

  • your business name,
  • your address,
  • phone number and
  • email address

...appears on every page of your site.

Be sure to list this information in full, including street address, city, state and postcode, the phone number with area code and basics such as operational open hours, and a location map.  This will mean more clients will quickly find what they are looking for.  This may seem a basic and even insulting paragraph to read, but it is amazing how many sites have this hidden away.
