News Feature

While most of your site's information is arranged into pages the news feature aranges information into articles or news items. These news items can appear on several pages at once and will appear on different pages according to their age:

  • Latest News: When an article is new it appears on a list summarising the latest news articles on the site. Typically the whole article is not shown but a summary of the article known as a teaser.
  • News List: The article (or teaser) may also appear on a page or pages showing news items arranged by date, title, month etc.
  • Single Article: If a user is interested in an news article teaser and wants to see more they are usually taken to this page which shows the article in full.
  • News Archive: This page shows all the news articles on a site, even the very oldest ones.

How to add a news article

  1. Choose the List module from the menu.
  2. Click on the folder that is called something like News Articles. On your site it may be named something different. Even on a news site you should at least see the test article.
  3. Click on the  icon just above the article to create a new article.
  4. Depending on your site you may not be able to edit all the following information:
    • Title: The title of your article.
    • Subheader: A summary of the article used in teasers. If you leave this blank, part of the Text is used for the teaser instead.
    • Text: The article itself.
    • Hide: If you don't want the article to be public you can tick this box. It may help if Show secondary options (palettes) at the bottom of the page is ticked.
  5. Click on Save to save your article.
  6. It should now show up on your site (as long as you didn't hide it).
