Larundel - Inspirational Garden
Paul and Gabrielle Preat own Larundel Historic Homestead, which is located in Elaine, half-way between Ballarat and Geelong, and west of Melbourne. Larundel Homestead was built in the 1870's by A.A.A. Austin on his Narmbool run.
Larundel recently featured on an Episode of Channel 7's "Australia's Best Backyards". During a recent Herald Sun interview, the program's host Jamie Durie recounted the choice of the Larundel property for his television program.
"I got to visit the garden that turned my life around. Paul Bangay brought out a book called The Defined Garden many years ago. I picked up the book and got to meet him. It inspired me to become a landscape designer and we visited the very garden that was photographed for that book, Larundel (in Victoria's Western District).
